The Human Resources Specialist at UC San Diego plays a crucial role in supporting the Client Department and HR Business Partner by applying professional HR knowledge to guide employees, supervisors, and managers in resolving HR issues. This position involves developing job descriptions, supporting performance appraisals, and managing recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes. The Specialist also maintains HR data, runs reports, analyzes data, and provides recommendations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers on HR issues of moderate scope and complexity.
• Assist in the development of job descriptions and support the performance appraisal process.
• Guide employees on benefits and employment-related issues, including leave of absences.
• Work with supervisors and managers to recruit, hire, onboard, and retain employees.
• Maintain human resources data, run reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations.

Requirements

• Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
• Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures related to HR.
• Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs.
• Familiarity with a human resources management system (HRMS) and related business software.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
