About the position

The Human Resources Specialist will support various administrative duties and corporate initiatives related to HR activities, including benefits management, staffing, training, payroll, and workplace safety. This role is essential in maintaining employee records, managing benefits administration, and fostering positive employer-employee relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain employment records for employees through personnel files and database.
  • Prepare memorandum and policies when appropriate.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts and participate in the interviewing process.
  • Manage all aspects of group benefits administration, including enrollment, compliance testing, cost analyses, COBRA, and internal customer service support.
  • Coordinate all Worker's Compensation claims and Return-to-Work Program.
  • Manage and coordinate safety protocols and PPE program throughout the organization.
  • Manage uniform program for the entire organization.
  • Coordinate all leaves of absences with appropriate communication and correspondence.
  • Coordinate garnishments, levies, unemployment, and subpoenas with payroll department.
  • On-boarding of new hires, including background checks and off-boarding terminated hires.
  • Support employees when human resources issues arise with efficient problem-solving.
  • Maintain practices to foster positive employer-employee relationships.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations based on data.
  • Manage and execute training programs for all employees throughout the company.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required.
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality, sensitivity, and security of information.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy, with a strategic, resourceful way of solving problems.
  • Thrives on learning new technology and software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Excel abilities.
  • Is pragmatic and exercises good judgement.
  • Succeeds working independently and as a team.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Have excellent project and time management skills (especially under critical deadlines).
  • Knowledge working with timekeeper system and Ceridian program is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
