About the position

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Northern District Court of Illinois are seeking a qualified Human Resources Specialist for its shared services human resources office located in Chicago, Illinois. This position is essential in providing a variety of human resources services to both Courts, ensuring that all HR functions are executed efficiently and effectively. The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for a range of HR activities, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with federal regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with court personnel at all levels. In this position, the Human Resources Specialist will work closely with the Human Resources Officer to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the Courts' goals. The Specialist will also be involved in training and development initiatives, helping to foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement. Additionally, the role may require the Specialist to assist in the administration of benefits programs, conduct exit interviews, and maintain employee records in accordance with legal requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. This is a permanent position with a classification level ranging from CL 25-01 to CL 27-61, offering a competitive salary between $53,546 and $105,313, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the values of the U.S. Courts and contribute positively to the organizational culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of human resources services to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Northern District Court of Illinois.
  • Assist in recruitment processes, including job postings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
  • Support employee relations by addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Administer performance management processes and assist in the development of performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and court policies regarding human resources functions.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs and provide information to employees regarding their options.
  • Conduct exit interviews and maintain accurate employee records in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Officer to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the Courts' goals.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives to promote employee engagement and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and federal regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with court personnel at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR management software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
