About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at PMC will play a crucial role in managing HR functions at a skilled nursing facility in Jefferson, LA. This position involves overseeing employee recruitment, payroll processing, and compliance with employment laws, while also ensuring effective communication between corporate and facility staff. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining employee records and facilitating training and orientation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Validate timecards daily for missing punches and allocation to appropriate department and job.
  • Submit employee hours for payroll.
  • Prepare advertisements to recruit employees and conduct orientation programs for new employees and in-service training programs.
  • Complete employee evaluations and work with department supervisors to determine recruitment needs.
  • Monitor budget FTEs by job and interpret personnel policies, employee handbooks, and resident rights to staff members.
  • File required federal and state employee records and forms at the time of employment, during employment, and at termination.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Post required posters such as OSHA, EEOC, Minimum Wage, etc., and attend hearings on unemployment claims and EEOC charges.
  • Maintain past, current, and future employee records and files, and ensure adequate documentation for orientation, training, counseling, etc.
  • Facilitate employee relations between corporate office and facility staff and perform additional HR duties to ensure smooth HR operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree with a job-related major is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Accountable, responsible, and dependable.
  • Ability to work well alone and with others.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Outgoing, friendly, and organized personality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with UKG Pro and Kronos is a plus.
