About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock plays a crucial role in supporting the Associate Vice Chancellor with various administrative responsibilities. This position involves preparing HR-related reports, assisting with background checks, managing the HR website, and maintaining department assets, all while ensuring confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information. The HR Specialist will also interact with employees, providing assistance in a professional manner, and will be governed by state and federal laws as well as institutional policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Vice Chancellor.
  • Manage and assist with the maintenance of the department inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with processing flexible and hybrid work arrangements requests.
  • Assist employees with general benefit questions.
  • Assist with the completion of background checks.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for department staff.
  • Assist with New Employee Orientation as needed.
  • Assist with planning department events such as HR Fair and Benefits Fair.
  • Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and Leave without Pay.
  • Perform data entry of foreign national employment eligibility statutes into Workday.
  • Maintain files and records shared with UA System General Counsel's Office.
  • Provide notifications to foreign national employees and departments before the expiration of work authorizations.
  • Assist with the management of the Department of Human Resources website.
  • Assist with maintaining assigned HR listservs, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Enter and upload employee information in Workday as needed.
  • Assist with front desk coverage as needed.
  • Assist UA Little Rock staff and faculty in the completion of HR documents.
  • Act as a member of the HR Solutions Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least two years of human resource experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience in an office setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resource Management.
  • Experience working in Higher Education.
  • Experience working with WordPress.
  • Experience working with Workday and Banner.
