About the position

The Human Resource Specialist will assist with various human resources matters, including gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records necessary for policy development and employee relations. This role involves supporting HR leadership with complex administrative tasks, managing records, and generating reports, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Handles routine human resource inquiries related to policies and procedures, referring complex matters to appropriate HR management staff.
  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations and work complaints.
  • Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion, particularly concerning EEO, affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
  • Conducts surveys, interviews, and research related to human resource policies and employee issues, reporting results to Employee Relations Manager and CHRO.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, and human resources.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1, organizational charts, and employee handbooks.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring accuracy of details such as contact information, job classification, and pay rates.
  • Performs administrative tasks related to staffing changes, including layoffs and terminations.
  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits, including collecting and submitting employee information to insurance carriers.
  • Supports company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment and new hire orientation.
  • Conducts or assists with record audits and mandatory reports, including I-9 audits and payroll audits.
  • Interfaces with employees and management in a courteous and professional manner regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or related field required.
  • At least three years of professional human resource administration required, with experience in employee relations preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and technology.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish (Preferred)
