About the position

The primary purpose of the Human Resources Specialist position at the Department of the Air Force is to provide Recruitment and Placement guidance and manage the Security Suitability Program for the 325th Force Support Squadron (FSS). This role is crucial in supporting the installation's Civilian Personnel Office, ensuring that staffing needs are met effectively and efficiently. The specialist will be responsible for managing the automated suitability and security clearance processes, which are essential for maintaining the integrity and security of personnel within the organization. In this position, the Human Resources Specialist will perform a full range of Recruitment and Placement advisory services. This includes providing staffing advisory services based on the serviced organization's local, regional, or national staffing priorities. The specialist will take proactive measures to anticipate management's needs by pre-positioning work products in expectation of new projects and programs. Additionally, the role involves providing ongoing technical advice and assistance to management on various Human Resources programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of HR staffing and recruitment principles, as well as the ability to interpret and apply relevant laws and regulations. The specialist will also need to be knowledgeable about personnel security investigations and suitability determinations, which are critical for advising officials, supervisors, and employees on recruitment processes and procedures. This role is not only about filling positions but also about ensuring that the right candidates are selected to maintain the organization's operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the automated suitability and security clearance process.
  • Perform full range of Recruitment and Placement advisory services.
  • Provide staffing advisory services based on local, regional, or national staffing priorities.
  • Anticipate management's needs by pre-positioning work products for new projects and programs.
  • Provide ongoing technical advice and assistance to management on Human Resources programs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service (if applicable).
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-7 level or equivalent in other pay systems, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of HR staffing and recruitment principles, laws, regulations, and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies related to recruitment processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated systems such as DCPDS, e-APP, JPAS, CVS, NP2 Portal, SWFT.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in providing technical advice and guidance in HR programs.
