About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Rutgers University is responsible for administering human resources and academic personnel policies affecting the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) employees. This role involves managing recruitment, orientation, employee development, and compliance with university policies, while supporting a diverse academic community.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain confidential electronic personnel records and databases.
  • Develop, conduct, and monitor recruitment, hire, orientation, and discipline processes.
  • Assist with annual salary increment and compensation processes for SAS faculty and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with faculty and staff contractual agreements and university policies.
  • Recommend, deliver, and monitor employee development programs aligned with SAS and university goals.
  • Conduct periodic staff administrative support position classification and review.
  • Assess and conduct employee development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance for performance management and evaluation of relevant staff.
  • Collaborate with HR management to identify critical staff support organizational needs.
  • Review existing policies and procedures and recommend changes as needed.
  • Gather data, generate reports, analyze data, and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in a human resources-related position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior human resources or administrative experience in higher education.
