As a Human Resources Specialist at SSC, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources function to meet the needs of both the business and our associates. Your primary focus will be on various functional areas including associate relations, HR-specific training, compliance with HR legal requirements, and managing associate engagement initiatives. You will take the lead in monitoring performance and merit increases, hiring non-exempt associates, and managing data related to bonus administration. Your contributions will help create a clean, safe, and distraction-free learning environment for students across the nation, as SSC is dedicated to fostering a people-first culture and supporting local communities. In this role, you will ensure that all company HR-related policies are applied consistently and will coach associates and management through complex issues. You will provide guidance on appropriate disciplinary actions and assist with on-site investigations. Additionally, you will oversee the MyOpportunity platform for hourly recruitment and onboarding, maintain and coordinate associate recognition programs, and ensure compliance with all federal and state laws. Regularly reviewing HR activity reports and supporting internal customer surveys will also be part of your responsibilities. You will attend department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, and implement HR initiatives. Your role will involve reviewing requests for pay increases or status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency, as well as preparing and presenting HR-related topics and training. As a diversity champion, you will lead tasks and activities related to diversity recruiting, retention, and promotion goals, and assist in creating Personal Development Plans for associates. Participation in the Annual Performance Appraisal process will also be expected.
