About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at TreeHouse Foods plays a crucial role in supporting the HR functions for the Green Bay plant. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, this position is integral in providing HR assistance to both the human resources and operations teams, ensuring that the needs of the entire hourly workforce are met. The HR Specialist acts as a liaison between management and HR professionals, facilitating communication and support across all levels of the organization. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including recruitment, training, employee relations, compensation, engagement, health and safety, payroll, and HRIS system management. In terms of recruitment, the HR Specialist will be involved in the full cycle recruiting process for designated departments. This includes ensuring compliance with SOX regulations, managing job postings, tracking AAP requirements, organizing job fairs, conducting interviews, performing background checks, generating offer letters, and facilitating new employee orientation and onboarding activities. The position also requires the completion of weekly and semi-monthly payroll administration processes for both hourly and salaried staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing. The HR Specialist is expected to maintain a high level of visibility and accessibility, interacting with employees across all shifts and assisting site visitors as needed. A key aspect of this role is to uphold integrity and professionalism in handling personnel matters, ensuring that all HR activities are conducted in a consistent and confidential manner. The HR Specialist will also assist with investigations, promote a positive work environment through employee activities and events, and support the administration of various leave programs, ensuring compliance with employment laws. Additionally, the HR Specialist will manage the Progressive Discipline System for the hourly workforce, assist with Worker's Compensation claims, and support the development and implementation of HR policies. Timely communication of HR memos, programs, and policies is essential, as is managing the new hire performance review process at 30, 60, and 90 days. This full-time, on-site role primarily supports the first shift but may require flexibility to accommodate the needs of a 24/7 business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Green Bay plant through areas of recruitment, training, employee relations, compensation, engagement, health and safety, payroll, and HRIS system management.
  • Performs or assists with full cycle recruiting for designated departments including SOX compliance, job postings, AAP tracking, job fairs, interviewing, background checks, offer letter generation, new employee orientation, and other onboarding activities.
  • Completes weekly and semi-monthly payroll administration processes for both hourly and salaried staff.
  • Maintains a high level of visibility, accessibility, and interaction with all employees on all shifts while assisting site visitors with the check-in process as needed.
  • Ensures high level of integrity is maintained and that personnel matters are handled in a professional, consistent, and confidential manner.
  • Assists with investigations.
  • Promotes a positive work environment for all employees through multiple channels including coordination of employee activities and events.
  • Supports the administration of company leave programs such as Short Term Disability, FMLA, Military, and Personal Leaves of Absence, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Supports front end invoicing processing.
  • Assists with the management of the Progressive Discipline System for the Hourly Workforce.
  • Assists with management of Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and consistent application of human resources policies.
  • Assists and manages human resources projects at the plant level.
  • Responsible for timely communications of HR memos, programs, and policies.
  • Manages the new hire 30-60-90-day performance review process with applicable stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must be computer literate including proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Prior education in human resources or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Prior related human resources experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, multitasking, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to deal with adverse and emotional situations.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday during office hours but be able to shift to various hours to meet the needs of a 24/7 business with night shifts.
