About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at TransCold Distribution is responsible for managing the full cycle recruitment process and providing general HR support to employees across California, Washington, and Oregon. This role involves collaborating with hiring leaders to fulfill staffing needs, onboarding new hires, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations. The HR Specialist will also engage in various HR functions, including benefits administration and employee communications, while promoting a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle recruitment for various roles including office, operations, and sales positions.
  • Partner with hiring leaders to ensure timely filling of positions and accuracy of job descriptions.
  • Post job ads on various platforms and screen candidates for interviews.
  • Build a pool of qualified candidates for frequently needed roles.
  • Network and reach out to passive candidates for current and future hiring needs.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and prepare interview materials for hiring managers.
  • Conduct employment reference and background checks, and coordinate drug tests for driver applicants.
  • Onboard new hires and ensure completion of necessary documentation.
  • Administer employee benefits and ensure timely enrollment for eligible employees.
  • Create and post employee announcements and manage company social events.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of recruiting and HR Specialist experience.
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with employment legal requirements in CA, WA & OR.
  • Demonstrated track record in high volume recruitment.
  • Strong interviewing and screening skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Tech-savviness with HR tools, familiarity with Dayforce HCM preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the food distribution/logistics sector.
  • Direct relevant experience in hiring warehouse personnel and commercial drivers.
