About the position

The Human Resources Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the human resource functions within Charlotte Public Schools. This position involves a variety of administrative support duties, requiring the ability to work independently and manage high volumes of work efficiently. The specialist will assist in maintaining accurate documentation, compiling reports, and communicating policies and procedures effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Skyward Database to ensure data integrity and entry preparation.
  • Collect data, analyze it, and prepare reports.
  • Complete projects and assignments by compiling complex information from various sources.
  • Contribute to grant applications and monitor compliance of grant-funded staff.
  • Coordinate the District guest teacher program, including daily assignments and data tracking.
  • Handle confidential materials and communications with discretion.
  • Assist with personnel recruitment, hiring, and other HR transactions.
  • Communicate and process employee benefits information.
  • Create routine correspondence, including emails, letters, memos, and reports.
  • Modify documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Facilitate Skyward timekeeping and time off employee training sessions.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend processes to meet objectives.
  • Meet with new hires for paperwork and benefits overview.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; college experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of administrative assistant experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Strongly preferred experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with poise and tact.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions according to established policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a school setting is preferred.
