About the position

The City of Brentwood is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join its innovative and diverse HR team. This role is essential in supporting the HR Department's functions, which include talent management, benefits administration, employee engagement, and workforce development. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a customer-focused approach and the ability to adapt quickly across various HR responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support talent acquisition processes including recruitment and selection.
  • Administer employee benefits and assist with HRIS support.
  • Manage HR metrics and reporting for performance management.
  • Facilitate employee engagement initiatives and wellness programs.
  • Assist in classification and compensation processes.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by two years of college level coursework in human resources or a related field.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible technical and office support experience in a human resources environment.
  • Possession of an appropriate driver's license may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems and metrics reporting.
  • Knowledge of CalPERS pension participation and deferred compensation plans.
