About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at FEMA will provide comprehensive HR support, focusing on recruitment strategies and technical guidance to management and employees. This role is essential in ensuring effective staffing and compliance with federal regulations, while also contributing to FEMA's mission of emergency management.

Responsibilities

  • Advise management on recruitment strategies and affirmative action programs.
  • Provide technical services for identifying recruitment avenues and assessing applicants' qualifications.
  • Process recruitment actions, including rating and ranking applicants and preparing referral lists.
  • Evaluate and interpret legislation and policies related to human resources.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Selective Service registration is required.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in advising on recruitment and placement strategies.
  • Familiarity with HR Information Systems for processing recruitment actions.
