About the position

The Human Resources Supervisor will oversee Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and Organizational Development for the Financial Services Department of the City of Austin. This role involves supervising a team of HR professionals, providing strategic HR support, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to effectively manage complex HR issues and foster positive relationships within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and Organizational Development for the Financial Services Department.
  • Supervise a team of 5 full-time staff and 3 temporary HR professionals.
  • Provide strategic HR support to senior leaders and management.
  • Implement enhancements to improve HR policies and procedures.
  • Participate in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HR compliance and regulations.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints from managers and employees.
  • Monitor departmental trends and identify training needs.
  • Conduct research to support new policy development.
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Five years of related HR experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
  • Experience in data analysis and conflict management.
  • SHRM Certified Professional or equivalent certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with COA Hiring and Compensation processes.
  • Experience in compensation administration and market analysis.
  • Ability to develop and deliver HR-related training.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain within six months.
