About the position

The Human Resources Support Analyst position at the Department of Transportation is a critical role that operates under the direction of the Human Resources Branch Chief (Staff Services Manager I). The incumbent will independently provide consultation to supervisors and managers on various human resources matters, including position allocation, civil service merit principles, hiring, recruitment, and selection processes. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, as the analyst will need to assess issues, reason logically and creatively, and develop actionable recommendations to meet the needs of the department and its staff. In addition to providing consultation, the Human Resources Support Analyst will be responsible for maintaining a positive work environment and fostering productive relationships with all staff and the public. This includes upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in all HR matters. The position is designed for individuals who can work independently while also being a collaborative team member. The analyst will be expected to navigate a fast-paced and demanding work environment, requiring flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments. The position is based in Sacramento, CA, and may involve periodic travel to various office buildings and field locations, which may expose the incumbent to varying climate conditions and physical environments. The role may also offer telework options, depending on departmental policies and operational needs. Candidates should be prepared for the possibility of commuting to the headquarters as needed and managing their own travel expenses for business operations.
