About the position

The Human Resources Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring effective HR operations for Minnehaha County. This full-time position involves providing administrative support, assisting with recruitment, onboarding new employees, and maintaining employee records. Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, answer phone calls and emails, and address or refer HR related inquiries.
  • Schedule interviews and meetings for the HR Office.
  • Complete income and employment verifications.
  • Process invoices, bills, and payments and oversee inventory and ordering.
  • Prepare and post job openings for internal and external job sites.
  • Track and process job application materials.
  • Prepare materials for interviews and testing sessions.
  • Coordinate applicant communications and assist applicants throughout the application and hiring process.
  • Assist in collecting candidate documents and coordinate background check processes.
  • Prepare new hire packets and assist with the onboarding process.
  • Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Maintain and organize employee personnel and benefits files.
  • Coordinate distribution and return of performance evaluations.
  • Process personnel action forms and salary changes.
  • Coordinate and prepare volunteer forms and reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with four or more years of office assistant experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field with previous experience in a human resources or office related environment, or
  • A minimum of four years of a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the highest level of customer and public service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the human resources field is preferred but not necessary.
