About the position

The Human Resources Technical Specialist (HRTS) position at the Iowa Department of Administrative Services is a full-time role focused on supporting the administration of critical benefits programs. This hybrid position allows for a blend of in-office and remote work, and the specialist will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations within the Benefits Bureau, particularly in managing employee benefits and utilizing the Workday HRIS.

Responsibilities

  • Process transactions and conduct audits within the Workday Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for medical and dental benefits.
  • Manage distribution lists and approve distributions for benefits programs.
  • Gather data for the annual review of deferred compensation programs.
  • Assist in coordinating Service Award Certificates and the One-Gift donation campaign.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Benefits team to ensure timely and accurate administration of employee benefits.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time work experience in performing administrative support including one year in a human-resources-related program area.
  • Three years of education where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year.
  • A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience in administrative support work, and a total of one year of education and/or full-time experience in administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.
