About the position

The Human Resources Technical Specialist (HRTS) position at the Iowa Department of Administrative Services is designed for detail-oriented individuals who are passionate about public service. This role focuses on supporting the administration of critical benefits programs, including the Retirement Investors Club (RIC) and Group Insurance, ensuring smooth and accurate operations within the Benefits Bureau. Responsibilities

  • Process transactions and conduct audits within the Workday Human Resources Information System (HRIS), particularly in medical and dental benefits.
  • Manage distribution lists, approve distributions, and gather data for the annual review of deferred compensation programs.
  • Assist in coordinating Service Award Certificates and the One-Gift donation campaign.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Benefits team to ensure timely and accurate administration of employee benefits.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time work experience in performing administrative support including one year in a human-resources-related program area.
  • Three years of education with thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year.
  • A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience with thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience in administrative support work, and a total of one year of education and/or full-time experience in administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.
