About the position

The Human Resources Training and Development Specialist at Illinois Action for Children is responsible for designing, developing, conducting, and evaluating training programs across the organization. This role involves conducting needs analysis to enhance employee performance and ensuring that training aligns with organizational standards. The specialist will work closely with management to identify training needs and will be expected to promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in needs analysis studies to determine training and performance needs within the organization.
  • Confer with management to understand specific work situations requiring employee training on changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
  • Identify ways to improve organizational productivity through training and education.
  • Recommend tools, resources, and training materials.
  • Assist in developing training materials and maintain teaching aids such as manuals and multimedia visual aids.
  • Select or design testing and evaluation methods to measure learning outcomes.
  • Maintain the training schedule and manage room reservations for training sessions.
  • Conduct training sessions on various topics for new and current employees, including orientation and customer service training.
  • Update training materials for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Provide career development guidance to employees regarding advancement opportunities and required training.
  • Maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) and perform data entry of courses and performance management documents.
  • Survey trainees to evaluate training effectiveness and report on their progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Training and Development, or a business-related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in training or organizational development, including needs assessment and developing training programs.
  • Prior experience with Learning Management Systems and course design is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to handle complex situations with good judgment.
  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
