About the position

As a HV Propulsion Product Development Engineer at Ford, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to shaping the future of electric transportation. This role is integral to the On-Going Product Development (OPD) quality engineering team, focusing on resolving field quality issues related to high voltage batteries, including arrays, Battery Energy Control (BEC) systems, and Battery Energy Control Modules (BECMs). You will engage in daily reviews of warranty claims, analyzing both low and high time in service claims to identify trends and issues that require attention. Your responsibilities will include leading teardown reviews with suppliers, conducting warranty part teardowns, and collaborating with core teams to perform root cause analysis. You will also be tasked with developing interim containment strategies and permanent corrective actions to enhance product quality and reliability. In this role, you will lead quality analysis and manage weekly reporting on warranty issues concerning Electrified High Voltage Components. You will analyze warranty claims, triage top issues for each vehicle line, and work closely with Product Development (PD) and Product Validation Test (PVT) Engineers to ensure that Battery System Analysis Questions (BSAQs) are accurate and aligned with the correct claim binning. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you pull weekly and monthly reports, utilizing corporate quality databases such as GSAR and Datacubes to identify critical cross-carline issues and determine if they are systemic or special causes. You will also support special studies to delve deeper into issues and calculate reliability forecasts as necessary. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work cross-functionally with other HV Battery Components team members and the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) to support efforts aimed at reducing repair costs.
