About the position

The HVAC/Boiler Operator at ASRC Federal Cyber is responsible for operating and maintaining boilers and HVAC systems at Fort Greely, Alaska. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, performing repairs, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The operator will also be accountable for adhering to safety practices and maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Tend one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water.
  • Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts related to boiler operation.
  • Perform repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems and refrigeration units.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct lengths and shapes using appropriate tools.
  • Bend and form sheet metal for ductwork and other components.
  • Troubleshoot and locate malfunctions in heating and cooling systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
  • Repair or replace compressors, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
  • Service and repair evaporators, condensers, and receivers.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform duties on PL-1 resources under the direction of the MDA Liaison.
  • Respond to callouts after normal working hours as needed.
  • Assist other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years verifiable experience as a HVAC technician or Boiler Tender.
  • Must have a Universal refrigerant card issued by the EPA.
  • Detail oriented and highly safety conscious.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
