About the position

Action Target is currently seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Engineer to work with Customers, Contractors, Sales, Project Management, and Engineering in overseeing, installing, and controlling heating and ventilation equipment used in Commercial, Military and Law Enforcement Shooting Range Facilities. Travel will be required for this position and is dependent on project location and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the Project Manager to support the execution of needed range ventilation equipment installation and all associated ventilation subsystems.
  • Complete site surveys to determine existing facility conditions.
  • Complete site visits to review progress, quality of installation, and identify deficiencies.
  • Order and track all parts as needed for each job.
  • Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (Direct Digital Controls) and create controller sequence of operations.
  • Perform commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
  • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades as directed to ensure proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot controls programming and setup problems.
  • Provide field change information for as-built drawings.
  • Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the range ventilation system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
  • Provide operations & maintenance (O&M) support.
  • Keep management and customer informed of job statuses and issues.

Requirements

  • Strong background in HVAC Controls.
  • Three years experience in installing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems with technical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, BACNET/MODBUS protocols.
  • Ability to design and implement control algorithms such as PID/State-Space/or other advanced control techniques to achieve desired system performance.
  • Experience in Tridium Niagara programming environment (Java experience is a +).
  • 2- or 4-year college degree specializing in Controls, Engineering, HVAC, or related discipline. Work experience in the field will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a high-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet schedules.
