About the position

The HVAC Craftsperson position at Tulsa Public Schools is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of HVAC systems within the district. The individual in this position will complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner, ensuring that all tasks are executed to the highest standards. This includes reporting labor, costs, and any pertinent notes or information regarding all assigned work orders back to the foreperson on a daily basis. The HVAC Craftsperson will work closely with other team members and departments to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff alike. In addition to performing routine maintenance, the HVAC Craftsperson will be expected to have a thorough understanding of city codes and EPA regulations, as well as extensive knowledge regarding the operation of HVAC control systems, boilers, and associated heating equipment. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The HVAC Craftsperson will also be responsible for the care and use of common hand tools, ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order. Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Report labor, cost, and any pertinent notes/information regarding all assigned work orders to the foreperson daily.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with city codes and EPA regulations.
  • Maintain and operate HVAC control systems, boilers, and associated heating equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current state mechanical journeyperson license.
  • Current EPA certification.
  • Thorough understanding of city codes and EPA regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge regarding the operation of HVAC control systems, boilers, and associated heating equipment.
  • Five (5) years' experience in maintenance of HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift more than 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Able and willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite.
  • Proficient in Spanish is a plus.
