About the position

The HVAC Data Center Systems Engineering Leader is responsible for supervising a team of Controls Systems Engineers and Designers, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for HVAC projects. This role emphasizes cost-effective engineering practices, customer satisfaction, and the development of innovative applications and operational techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Controls Systems Engineers and Designers for hardware and software engineering.
  • Manage and schedule the workload of the Systems Engineering Team.
  • Prioritize work and coordinate projects to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
  • Provide timeframe estimates for job cost evaluation to project management.
  • Develop and implement processes and strategies for the Systems Engineering team.
  • Provide engineering cost estimates during project development phases.
  • Seek out new applications and operational techniques to improve quality and productivity.
  • Provide advanced technical support on application or implementation issues.
  • Lead the selection of controllers and end devices to minimize installation costs.
  • Utilize management reports to evaluate team success and ensure delivery re-estimate processes are followed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and consulting engineers.
  • Support Strategic Accounts for consistent delivery across the Virtual Center of Engineering.
  • Perform complex engineering and support network commissioning as required.
  • Hire, mentor, and manage performance of direct reports.
  • Prepare and deliver performance expectations and development plans for direct reports.
  • Work with Project Owners and HVAC Installation managers to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Adhere to safety standards and prioritize employee and subcontractor safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in Application engineering.
  • Prior experience in supervision of a technical/engineering group.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in the construction industry.
  • Master's degree or Professional Engineer Registration is highly desired.
  • Recognized as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and cost management.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, especially in presenting technical material.
