About the position

The HVAC Equipment Systems Application Engineer at Johnson Controls plays a crucial role in supporting the construction sales team by assisting with pre and post-sales activities related to building systems and HVAC equipment projects. This position involves technical support, project management, and ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining project profitability. The engineer will work closely with account executives and sales leadership to validate system configurations, select HVAC equipment, and manage project execution to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the construction sales team with pre and post-sales activities on building systems and HVAC equipment projects.
  • Assist in system configuration validation and HVAC equipment selection for design and bidding.
  • Provide technical support and limited estimating support to Account Executives during project design or proposal phases.
  • Develop detailed engineering information and submittals to communicate design and installation requirements to stakeholders.
  • Manage project Profit & Loss (P&L) for assigned projects, ensuring profitability and accuracy.
  • Prepare customer proposal quote letters and manage project documentation including RFQs and RFIs.
  • Coordinate the factory equipment order process to ensure compliance with contract documents and site requirements.
  • Communicate project progress and financials to management and stakeholders.
  • Review and process invoices related to assigned projects and address billing issues promptly.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with customers, consultants, and contractors.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a related role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Writer and Windows operating system.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering or Construction.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
