About the position
The HVAC Technician I position involves performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental control systems under general supervision. The role includes assisting in installations, routine servicing, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and codes. As the technician gains experience, they will take on more technical tasks, resolving simple problems independently while referring complex issues to superiors. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and effective communication with school officials.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and environmental control systems.
- Cleans, lubricates, and performs routine service on HVAC systems.
- Assists in the connection and installation of piping and ductwork.
- Assists in the use of recycling and recovery equipment.
- Maintains knowledge of regulations and codes pertaining to electrical and HVAC systems.
- Responsible for the maintenance of tools, materials, and equipment used daily.
Requirements
- High school graduation supplemented by vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or associated trades.
- Some experience in HVAC or related fields.
- Maintenance of a universal CFC Certification required by the EPA.
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state of North Carolina.
