The HVAC Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration system components according to a prescribed set of instructions. This role involves responding to service calls, conducting assessments, and making adjustments to equipment to resolve occupant comfort issues. The work is performed according to established guidelines and includes inspecting and replacing faulty or worn parts such as compressors, condensers, expansion valves, thermostats, and filters. The mechanic will also test equipment functionality upon completion of repairs. In addition to routine maintenance, the HVAC Maintenance Mechanic may assist higher-level tradespersons or supervisors with more complex maintenance, installations, or repairs. The position requires independent work, with tasks being checked upon completion for adherence to guidelines and quality standards. The mechanic will perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, including changing air filters, cleaning coils, and greasing bearings. They will also conduct maintenance on furnaces, boilers, and unit heaters, ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely.
