About the position

The Project Engineer, Mechanical Service at Johnson Controls is a specialized role focused on the safe and profitable growth of the Owner-Direct HVAC Retrofit, Special Projects, and Design/Build business. This position supports HVAC, Fire, and Security Sales across pre and post-construction activities, managing projects that typically range from $50K to over $1M. The role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure project success and client satisfaction, while also providing technical support and recommendations for MEP strategies and equipment offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Support Owner-Direct HVAC, Fire and Security Sales across pre and post-construction activities.
  • Drive and support both Sales and Operations for HVAC Install projects.
  • Develop and drive programs to support pre-sales efforts with technical activities.
  • Partner with equipment agents for selection, cost estimates, submittals, and scope letters.
  • Recommend different MEP strategies and equipment offerings to meet client needs.
  • Provide management support on medium and high complexity projects.
  • Support the internal project review process and turnover to Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Business with emphasis in construction, or relevant experience.
  • Sheet metal and/or plumbing experience or certification.
  • 10 years of experience with MEP contractor in estimating and/or project management.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • 2-4 years of experience designing HVAC equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn about HVAC equipment, new technologies, and offerings.
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
