The role requires working under the supervision of the Maintenance and Construction Supervisor and includes assisting other mechanics and trades helpers. The position is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of HVAC/R systems within the university's facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
- Responds to HVAC/R trouble calls and requests within the facilities.
- Performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspections on HVAC/R equipment and related systems.
- Prepares and submits requisitions for materials, work orders, and required records to the Supervisor.
- Maintains daily time sheets and information pertaining to work performed and time spent.
- Interprets data from mechanical systems and energy management systems, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
- Prepares or works from sketches, plans, and specifications in accordance with HVAC/R standards.
- Analyzes situations requiring modification or repair of facility equipment/systems and makes recommendations.
- Services all refrigerant equipment and high-pressure appliances as defined by EPA regulations.
- Assists in the work direction of other mechanics and trades helpers.
Requirements
- Less than high school education.
- 5 years of experience in HVAC/R maintenance and repair.
