About the position

The HVAC Service Sales Development Representative plays a crucial role in the growth and profitability of the HVAC Service business at Johnson Controls International. This position is focused on initiating, establishing, and nurturing profitable service relationships with new customers. The selected candidate will primarily concentrate on selling renewable maintenance agreements, which serve as the foundation for building these relationships. Working within a designated geographic territory, the representative will collaborate with a local branch office and partner with sales and operations professionals to achieve sales goals. The role requires the use of various sales tools to plan, document sales progress, and identify business opportunities within existing accounts. The expectation is to secure and close business on a monthly basis, contributing to the overall success of the HVAC Service division. In this position, the representative will follow a structured and professional approach to identify, target, and qualify potential new customers. This involves leveraging market conditions and networking effectively to uncover new leads. The representative will contact prospective customers, schedule appointments, and build a referral network to identify new business opportunities. Sales calls will be conducted to uncover key issues and dissatisfaction faced by Facility Directors in managing heating, cooling, ventilation, and control system equipment. The representative will create a sense of urgency to address these needs and position Johnson Controls as the preferred supplier. Proposals will be developed and finalized with prospects, securing their commitment to the solutions offered by Johnson Controls. Additionally, the representative will conduct customer kick-off meetings, resolve issues, create opportunities for further engagement, maintain service agreements, and support the collections process. Keeping management informed of progress and account status is essential, as is knowing when to seek assistance to keep the sales process on track. The representative will also develop and implement territory marketing plans that align with the Johnson Controls Building Solutions business strategy, attend trade shows, and participate in professional organizations. Representing Johnson Controls with professionalism and integrity is paramount, ensuring that all business is conducted to the highest standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Review and finalize proposals with prospects to secure commitment to Johnson Controls solutions.
  • Conduct customer kick-off meetings and resolve customer issues.
  • Maintain and extend service agreements and support the collections process.
  • Keep management informed of progress and account status using Johnson Controls tools.
  • Develop and implement territory marketing plans consistent with business strategy.
  • Attend and present at trade shows and participate in professional organizations.
  • Represent Johnson Controls professionally, adhering to high standards of quality and integrity.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of previous progressive sales experience.
  • Aptitude for technical knowledge with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage both individuals and groups.
  • Experience in selling services and intangibles.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies, standards, and disciplines.
