About the position
The Service Technician at Polar Express is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, educating clients on technical decisions, and providing multiple options for system repairs or replacements. The technician will perform service calls in customers' homes, ensuring systems function properly and addressing any issues that arise.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and propose replacement of HVAC systems including gas furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and more.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues to keep equipment functioning properly.
- Test each system after service/repair to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform inspections to prevent future issues.
- Educate customers on services performed and assist in making informed buying decisions.
- Document all service details, including system components and costs, on invoices.
- Debrief service calls with dispatch after each visit.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and company vehicle.
- Wear company-approved apparel and follow safety policies.
- Participate in company-sponsored training and assist in mentoring less-experienced technicians.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a Service Technician in residential service and maintenance.
- Knowledge of operational functionality of residential HVAC equipment.
- Ability to mentor and train less-experienced technicians.
- Solid communication and customer service skills.
- Must possess appropriate trade tools.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
