About the position

As a Sales Representative for Johnson Controls International, you will play a crucial role in promoting and selling our building automation offerings to mechanical contractors, designers, and consulting engineers. This position operates under general direction, allowing you to leverage your expertise to build long-term customer relationships and partnerships within the construction community. Your primary responsibility will be to effectively communicate the Johnson Controls value proposition, providing both business and technical solutions that meet the needs of our clients. You will be tasked with ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty while collaborating closely with operations partners to position renewable service agreements as a foundation for ongoing account relationships. In this role, you will be expected to sell Johnson Controls offerings with confidence and persistence, targeting all members of the construction community, including contractors, consultants, and designers. You will focus on maximizing profit levels while addressing the business objectives of contractors. Your ability to build strong partnerships with the owner construction community will be essential, as you will need to understand their decision-making processes and demonstrate a high level of credibility and technical expertise. By actively listening and identifying customer concerns, you will be able to tailor solutions that align with their operational needs and objectives. Additionally, you will seek out and initiate contact with prospective customers, developing a robust network of industry contacts that aligns with Johnson Controls' strategic goals. Your role will involve qualifying potential customers and addressing their operational and environmental requirements. You will differentiate Johnson Controls' services and products from competitors by applying creativity and innovation in your sales approach. Acting as the customer's advocate, you will ensure they receive the best value from our offerings, setting appropriate expectations and participating in final project inspections to guarantee customer satisfaction and proper training on system operations.

Responsibilities

  • Sell Johnson Controls building automation offerings to mechanical contractors, designers, and consulting engineers.
  • Promote the Johnson Controls value proposition to the construction community by providing business and technical solutions.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships and partnerships with assigned accounts.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty while collaborating with operations partners.
  • Position renewable service agreements as a foundation for ongoing account relationships.
  • Persuasively sell Johnson Controls offerings to all members of the construction community.
  • Focus on opportunities that help contractors achieve their business objectives.
  • Build partnering relationships with the owner construction community responsible for decision-making processes.
  • Actively listen to customer concerns and demonstrate technical and business expertise.
  • Seek out and initiate contact with prospective customers in alignment with JCI strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts.
  • Qualify and assess potential customers based on their operational needs.
  • Recommend solutions that link customer objectives to total value solutions and competitive advantages.
  • Differentiate Johnson Controls services and products from competitors through creativity and innovation.
  • Act as the customer's advocate in interactions with Johnson Controls to ensure they receive the best value from our offerings.
  • Set appropriate customer expectations and participate in final project inspections.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of experience selling in the building automation system industry.
  • Demonstrates a dedication to integrity and quality in business.
  • Excellent initiative and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence the market at key levels.
