The HVAC Technician position at Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises involves the maintenance and repair of all HVAC and refrigeration systems across Foundation buildings. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems, as well as auxiliary equipment related to these systems. The technician will perform maintenance and service repairs, receive or initiate work orders, and install new units or replacement parts according to established safety guidelines. In addition to routine maintenance, the technician will troubleshoot and calibrate equipment, using a range of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or digitally controlled systems. The role also involves performing major overhauls, which include disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of equipment, ensuring that all parts are functioning correctly. Effective communication with managers and directors is essential, as is maintaining accurate inventory records and ordering necessary parts and supplies. The technician must adhere to local, state, and federal codes and standards while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
