About the position

The HVAC Technician II is responsible for maintaining District facilities, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment to ensure that no disruption occurs to the instructional program. This position requires a high level of technical skill and experience in HVAC systems and components.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing of installed air conditioning and refrigeration systems including compressors, condensers, valves, coils, cooling towers, heat pumps, motors, belts, bearings, fans, filters, piping, wiring, control systems, thermostats, ducting, heat exchangers, pumps, actuators, and other appurtenances.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and equipment manuals related to air conditioning and refrigeration systems and component parts.
• Perform replacement of major and minor parts, components, or entire systems.
• Performs overhauls on major equipment components.
• Perform regular scheduled inspections of facilities and HVAC systems.
• Monitor Maintenance Department maintenance management system, complete assigned tasks in accordance with Department goals and guidelines.
• Complete assigned work requests by accurately entering technician comments, labor and material costs.
• Fill out District forms and maintain electronic maintenance records as directed.
• Compile, catalog and maintain inventory of supplies, materials, tools and equipment.
• Assist other maintenance personnel as needed and directed by supervisor.
• Perform such other duties as the superintendent or designee may assign.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma.
• Possess a Type I and II refrigerant certification.
• Completion of an Accredited HVAC Program or Associates Degree in AC&R.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• 5 Years of Successful HVAC & Refrigeration experience.

Benefits

• Pay Grade 0S07, $24.52 - $29.06 hourly rate commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule.
• 261 days of work per year.
