About the position
The HVAC Technician at Alaska Fire and Flue is responsible for performing skilled inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to heating and ventilation systems. This role is essential for maintaining the functionality of commercial heating systems and ensuring safety standards are met. The technician will work both indoors and outdoors, covering the Kenai Peninsula, and will be part of a family-owned company that values its employees and offers opportunities for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to commercial heating and ventilation systems
- Inspects and repairs boilers, furnaces, and unit heaters
- Answers after hours call out on a rotation basis
- Plans and estimates furnace replacements
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment for industrial applications
- Studies building plans and other materials to determine work aids required and sequence of installations
- Tests various systems for proper operation, assembly, or to diagnose problems
- May perform a wide variety of other general maintenance duties required to maintain and operate commercial or industrial facilities
- Notifies supervisor if safety standards are not being met
- Assists other Maintenance Technicians, regardless of skill set/trade
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least four (4) years verifiable and advanced HVAC experience
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years
- Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients
- Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
- Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client
- Must have own hand tools
