About the position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an on-site HVAC Technician in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role is integral to maintaining the optimal performance and reliability of critical HVAC systems within high-tech facilities. The technician will engage with advanced HVAC technologies, ensuring comfort, safety, and productivity in the workplace while contributing to the company's mission of providing technology solutions for defense and commercial markets. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities are available to keep skills current in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up new HVAC systems, including assembling components and connecting systems to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and other necessary connections.
  • Performing routine checks and maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation, including cleaning, replacing filters, and checking fluid levels.
  • Diagnosing problems with HVAC systems and making necessary repairs to components such as compressors, motors, condensers, thermostats, fans, and switches.
  • Conducting inspections to ensure HVAC systems are compliant with regulations and working safely and effectively.
  • Recommending upgrades or improvements to increase the efficiency and performance of HVAC systems.
  • Communicating with customers to understand their HVAC needs, providing recommendations, and ensuring customer satisfaction with services provided.
  • Keeping detailed records of all inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed, as well as noting any changes made to systems.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures while performing HVAC work to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Being available to respond to emergency situations involving HVAC systems outside of normal working hours if required.
  • Staying current with the latest HVAC technologies, tools, and best practices through periodic and annual training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Advanced job knowledge and skills in HVAC systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Universal certification
  • RMGA certification
  • Security clearance (preferred)
  • Proficient in using CMMS database
  • Experience with environmental chambers
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
