About the position

The HVAC Technician position involves performing skilled mechanical maintenance duties related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and associated systems within city facilities. The role includes inspection, repair, installation, and alteration of HVAC systems, as well as preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. The technician will work under the direction of the Parks and Facilities Supervisor and may be required to work after hours and on weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in HVAC systems.
  • Inspect, repair, install, and alter heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Work under the direction of the Parks and Facilities Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of education and/or technical training in HVAC/R.
  • Six years of journey-level experience in the HVAC/R field.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license upon hire.
  • Valid CFC 608 Universal Technician Certification upon hire.
  • Valid Washington State 06A-HVAC/refrigeration license upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of experience in building automation systems.
  • Two years of experience in low temperature equipment and appliance repair.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
