About the position

The HW Engineering Assistant at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. is responsible for providing engineering support through planning, scheduling, and assisting engineers with documentation, testing, and process-related activities. This role involves working on RF, analog, and digital electronics, conducting tests, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards while contributing to the development of uncrewed systems and other defense technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed development work in RF, analog, and digital electronics under the guidance of engineers.
  • Work independently to resolve existing problems and malfunctions.
  • Collect and analyze engineering test data toward a given objective.
  • Research and analyze electronic components for new designs and replacement of obsolete parts.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Implement and test engineering changes.
  • Create test plans and procedures for products under development.
  • Travel to environmental and electromagnetic interference testing labs for new development qualification testing.
  • Travel to customer sites within the U.S. or Europe for vehicle surveys, system installations, and follow-on testing.

Requirements

  • AS degree or technical school credentials in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering support roles.
  • Intermediate experience with computers and various software applications, including MS Office.
  • Experience in development, test, or maintenance of RF or radar systems and airborne command, control, and telemetry systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of advanced test equipment operations and related uses and safeguards.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, work instructions, and component identifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and tools desired.
  • Ability to lead a team relevant to assigned programs to ensure contract requirements are accomplished.
