About the position

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to fill the position of Highway Response Operator 1 in Nashville, TN. This full-time role involves driving HELP trucks and providing emergency response assistance to the motoring public on the highways. The position is classified as entry-level and is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals involved in highway incidents. The selected candidate will work the 2nd shift from Tuesday to Friday, responding to various freeway incidents and emergencies, which may occur in diverse environmental conditions. As a Highway Response Operator, you will be responsible for administering first aid to victims at incident scenes, providing traffic control, and securing incident scenes to ensure safety. It is crucial to follow all applicable laws, agency policies, and procedures while delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. This role requires a proactive approach to emergency response and a commitment to maintaining a clean driving record and passing necessary background checks. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard high school or accredited GED

  • Must pass a background check and have a 10-year clean driving record
  • Must agree to a TBI criminal history records check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
