About the position

The Hy-Chi Department Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing excellent customer service while managing food orders and ensuring product quality. This role involves filling customer orders, handling food safely, and maintaining a clean work environment. The clerk will also assist customers with their needs and work collaboratively with team members to enhance the shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, loading/unloading heavy items, and noting customer suggestions.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to customers who call.
• Takes customer orders at the Hy-Chi Department counter.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Reviews orders for the day and practices proper sanitation procedures.
• Ensures the work area is clean and neat, and reviews food for freshness.
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary.
• Checks in product, puts it away, and reviews invoices.
• Runs the department register and handles payments.
• Removes trash in a timely manner.
• Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Entry-level position with less than 1 year of experience.
• Supervising experience is not required.
