About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Systems Engineering to support the Enterprise Mission Infrastructure and Platform team. This role involves developing architectures and technical capabilities for the warfighter, leading technology investigations, and engaging with commercial technology leaders to enhance National Security Space Ground Enterprise capabilities. The position requires a strong background in software-intensive systems and cloud computing, particularly within the space system domain, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Enterprise Mission Infrastructure and Platform team's customers in developing architectures, roadmaps, technical capabilities, and products that support the needs of the warfighter.
  • Lead technology investigation initiatives, working with vendors, the government, and contractors to prototype and deliver cyber secure platform capabilities.
  • Engage with commercial technology leaders to discuss product and technology roadmaps and translate them into strategic opportunities for National Security Space Ground Enterprise.
  • Prototype, design, and demonstrate cloud computing architectures and services to support the needs of warfighters.
  • Perform analysis and testing demonstrations of leading platform and cloud technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering or a related technical subject area.
  • 6 or more years of experience in architecture for software-intensive systems and cloud computing, preferably in the space system domain.
  • Experience working with integrated, multidisciplinary, multi-organizational teams.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent social skills enabling effective communication with customers, colleagues, and senior management.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with the ability to obtain Special Access (SAP) and maintain clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware, Red Hat, or other Linux Operating Systems.
  • Ability to travel as required (approx. 10-15%).
  • 10 or more years of experience for the senior level, including experience in leading integrated, multidisciplinary, multi-organizational teams and cloud-based platform work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced academic degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience with processes associated with government system acquisition and lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, integration, and testing of software and/or data-intensive system architectures.
  • Knowledge in Zero-Trust architectures, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.
