Responsibilities

  • Review WVU and Research Corp Staff positions to conduct job reviews to determine appropriate classification/title and pay level.
  • Work directly with unit leadership to provide guidance and consultation in making informed compensation decisions by delivering decision support research, analysis, data, tools, and structures related to compensation and classification.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring career development and pathing programs to ensure consistency and compliance with established policies and guidelines.
  • Consult with assigned leaders regarding requests for new or revised job classifications; evaluate needs based on organizational or market factors and create classifications as appropriate.
  • Develop and prepare compensation unit reports and analyses, including benchmark comparisons and pay plan reports.
  • Research and analyze competitive compensation practices in the job market.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for the University community regarding classification and compensation concerns, providing advice and counsel on day-to-day issues and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in the design, modification, implementation, and maintenance of compensation plans, including salary ranges and pay policies.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of presentations, training, and communication on compensation topics.
  • Participate in the review of proposed compensation, classification, and HR information related policies and programs.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in compensation analysis and administration.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate job classifications and compensation structures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to consult with leadership and staff.
  • Knowledge of compensation practices and market trends.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and presentations on compensation topics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HR information systems and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with state and federal employment regulations.
  • Certification in compensation or human resources (e.g., CCP, PHR, SPHR).
