About the position

The Hybrid Electric Systems Engineer at GE Aerospace is responsible for the design, optimization, and development of hybrid electric systems for ground and flight test technology demonstrator vehicles. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure safe and effective system performance, as well as leading projects and influencing decision-making processes within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with mechanical, electrical and thermal, controls and software, manufacture and test teams to advance the development of electrical systems.
  • Develop and conduct experimental tests and evaluate results, including electrical performance of components and system integration tests, environmental tests, and electromagnetic compliance (EMC) tests.
  • Conduct analysis to support tests and verification and validation activities associated with tests and analysis.
  • Use Design and Process FMEAs to inform system design, control needs, control methodologies, and interface requirements between components and functions.
  • Develop forward-looking control system architecture to support future airframe integrated product configurations using MBSE as a tool to build, maintain, and propagate descriptive system models.
  • Define product Hybrid electric system architecture, relevant trade studies, requirements structure, and functional system requirements.
  • Translate product requirements and vision to demonstration needs and tests.
  • Convey lessons learned from further developed demo programs to nascent demos and product programs.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Interact with adjacent functions needed to solve issues and evaluate the quality of information received.
  • Lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)) for roles in the USA.
  • Significant experience in Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering for roles outside of the USA.
