About the position

Ateema Media & Marketing is seeking a talented Freelance Social Media Video Editor to manage the editing for the @ChicagoDoes social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok. This part-time role focuses on creating engaging short-term and long-form video content that highlights local businesses and attractions in Chicago. The position allows for creative freedom while adhering to established brand guidelines, and involves collaboration with the creative team to produce high-quality content.

Responsibilities

  • Edit both short-form (10-25 seconds) and long-form (1+ minute) videos for @ChicagoDoes, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and visual consistency across platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with the videographer/on-camera freelancer to create cohesive videos that reflect the vision, ensuring all content is approved by the Director of Marketing.
  • Maintain high standards in post-production, ensuring clean cuts, balanced audio, color correction, and proper export settings for each platform.
  • Integrate voiceovers seamlessly, ensuring clarity and smooth transitions in the videos.
  • Focus on creating engaging narratives that capture viewer interest from the start and maintain it throughout the video.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro/Final Cut or related software, with a portfolio of social media videos similar to @ChicagoDoes.
  • Familiarity with filming fundamentals, including working with raw footage and creating cohesive edits using various shot types.
  • Strong understanding of color theory, composition, and visual storytelling to enhance video quality.
  • Ability to provide examples of social media video content, particularly for Instagram and TikTok.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
  • Background in journalism or media/film studies to enhance content quality and engagement.
  • Basic understanding of marketing principles and the ability to convey important messages.
  • Preference for candidates who are juniors in college or older, ideally with coursework in video editing or filmmaking courses.
  • Experience conducting interviews and comfort being in front of the camera.
