About the position

The Industrial Appeals Hearings Judge presides over hearings and conferences related to various appeals under Washington State's Industrial Insurance Act and other related acts. This role involves evaluating evidence, applying legal standards, and issuing written decisions. Judges primarily conduct hearings via video or telephone, with in-person hearings occurring as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Preside over conferences and hearings where evidence is presented.
  • Issue written decisions resolving appeals filed under the Industrial Insurance Act and other related acts.
  • Conduct hearings primarily via video or telephone, with in-person hearings as needed.
  • Manage a hearing run assigned by geographic area.

Requirements

  • Must be an active or judicial member of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA).
  • Practicing attorney for a minimum of five (5) years as a member of the WSBA or other state bar association.
