About the position

As a Hybrid Inside Sales Business Development Representative at Johnson Controls, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and fostering customer relationships. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about customer service and have a keen understanding of the sales process. You will be responsible for reaching out to potential leads through phone and email, utilizing company-provided tools to engage with customers effectively. Your primary focus will be on qualifying leads from various campaigns, which include Fire equipment, controls, planned service agreements, and inbound lead requests. By understanding customer needs and recognizing opportunities, you will recommend solutions that align with the Johnson Controls value proposition, particularly to building owners, facilities, and IT leaders. In this role, you will be expected to book qualified meetings for your frontline sales counterpart, ensuring that you maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients. Daily interactions with customers will allow you to identify appropriate solutions and facilitate the hand-off of booked meetings to the relevant sales representatives. Following up after meetings and throughout the sales cycle will be essential to ensure a seamless transition and to nurture relationships with both customers and sales teams. Your success in this position will be measured by your ability to develop a follow-up process, build strong relationships with sales reps, and effectively manage your time and priorities to achieve sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to understand customer needs and recognize opportunities.
  • Reach out via phone and email to leads from various campaigns.
  • Qualify leads and secure meetings for frontline sales counterparts.
  • Develop a follow-up process to maintain customer relationships.
  • Build and maintain a sales pipeline.
  • Identify and offer appropriate solutions to customers.
  • Follow up with sales counterparts after meetings and throughout the sales cycle.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of inside sales, telemarketing selling, or customer interaction experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), internet software, and email.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • A high level of integrity and resilient temperament.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-4 years of inside sales or telemarketing selling experience or business experience at a product company.
  • Track record of over-achieving goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence account decision makers at key levels.
  • Strong phone presence with experience making 45-60 calls per day.
  • Experience working with a CRM database.
  • Ability to rapidly build knowledge of Johnson Controls' product lines.
