About the position

The (Hybrid) Instructional Designer at West Virginia University's Eberly College of Arts and Sciences will collaborate with faculty and administrators to design, develop, and implement effective instructional materials for on-campus, online, and hybrid courses. This role emphasizes quality assurance in course development, adherence to academic policies, and the exploration of new technologies to enhance instructional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage courses in eCampus, including initial construction, content updates, and in-term maintenance for all ECAS graduate and undergraduate courses.
  • Guide faculty in selecting appropriate technologies for online delivery and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Implement the migration of on-campus courses from eCampus Vista to Ultra.
  • Assess the effectiveness of existing course designs and assist faculty with course redesign to meet established guidelines.
  • Align course content, instructional strategies, and academic support with learning outcomes and student success objectives.
  • Organize course content into logical sequences, modules, or units, and select appropriate instructional strategies and resources.

Requirements

  • Experience in instructional design and course development for higher education.
  • Familiarity with Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric and other academic policies.
  • Proficiency in using eLearning platforms and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hybrid and online course delivery.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards in education.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS).
