About the position

The Instructional Designer position at the Office of the Dean, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, focuses on collaborating with faculty and administrators to design, develop, and implement effective online, hybrid, and on-campus courses. The role emphasizes quality assurance in course development, adherence to academic policies, and the integration of innovative technologies to enhance instructional materials and learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage courses in eCampus, including initial construction and content updates.
  • Guide faculty in selecting appropriate technologies for online delivery and ensure accessibility standards are met.
  • Implement the migration of on-campus courses from eCampus Vista to Ultra.
  • Assess existing course designs and assist faculty with redesigns to meet academic guidelines.
  • Align course content and instructional strategies with learning outcomes and student success objectives.
  • Organize course content into logical sequences and select appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Plan and produce designs for instructional materials and resources.
  • Create instructional materials, including presentations, handouts, and multimedia content.
  • Develop interactive e-learning modules and multimedia assets to engage learners.
  • Conduct learning needs analysis to ensure appropriateness of instructional materials.
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance regulations for course development.
  • Ensure instructional integrity through systematic design and clear writing of instructional analyses.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty and peers to fulfill project goals.
  • Provide consultation on instructional design and technology tools.
  • Research and identify opportunities for technological innovation in courses.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for online instructors and troubleshoot curriculum components.
  • Manage and integrate customized course components into online courses.
  • Compile faculty course discussion board participation counts and report results.
  • Assist faculty with external course responsibilities and report significant issues to the assistant program director.
  • Assist in conducting faculty development and training sessions.
  • Document course management processes and maintain backups of course content.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive timeline for course production activities.
  • Collaborate with the assistant director to guide course developers during asset submission.
  • Evaluate and request content transfer for each course per term.
  • Work with eCampus system administrators for custom content requests.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Education, Higher Education Administration, Instructional Design, etc.).
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Learning Management System technology, higher education curriculum, and designing online courses.
  • Experience teaching at a college level.
