About the position

The Insurance Actuarial Analyst 5 position at the Ohio Department of Insurance involves analyzing complex Life Insurance and Annuity filings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to train lower-level analysts, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Life Insurance and Annuity products, as well as relevant Ohio and Federal insurance laws.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing complex Life Insurance and Annuity filings for compliance with applicable state and federal laws and policies.
  • Reviewing reserves and assisting the Risk Assessment area in annual insurer analysis and the financial exam process.
  • Creating and maintaining compliance review tools and providing analysis of data.
  • Providing direction, training, and peer reviews of work completed by lower-level insurance actuarial analysts.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in mathematics.
  • Designation as Associate in Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Associate in Society of Actuaries (ASA).
  • Designation as member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
  • 6 years of experience in the actuarial field pertinent to assigned division.
  • 24 months of experience in operation of personal computer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable in Life Insurance and Annuity products and related Ohio and Federal insurance laws.
